Kimpton Da’an Taipei is a modern contemporary boutique hotel in the residential neighbourhood in Da’an District in Taipei, Taiwan. It is an IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) Hotel, which means you are guaranteed excellent service and pleasant accommodation.
The Shanghainese design firm, Neri&hu, designed the Kimpton Da’an Hotel base on the concept of “inner sanctuary.” The boutique hotel has been recognized by several interior design magazines and was shortlisted for the Best Urban Hotel in Taipei in 2019.
Besides all design features, I love how Kimpton Hotel is in a residential neighbourhood where many excellent local eateries are within walking distance.
I had a fantastic stay at the Kimpton Hotel while I was travelling solo in Taipei. And if you are looking for a modern boutique hotel in Taipei, check out my Kimpton Da’an Hotel review below and see if this luxury Taipei boutique hotel is for you.

Kimpton Da’an Hotel Location
Located in Da’an District, this Taipei boutique hotel is in a walkable neighbourhood with many local restaurants, beauty salons and boutique shops.
If you are coming from Taoyuan International Airport, take the airport express to Taipei Main Train Station. Then take the MRT on Bannan Line (blue line) to Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station, which is only 3 stops away. Then find exit 3 and walk 2 minutes.
Because the boutique hotel is in a residential neighbourhood, there are not many attractions besides Jianguo Jade Market (open Saturdays and Sundays only) and Jut Art Museum.
But there are a LOT of yummy food places! I included a long list of excellent food places in the area, including one of my favourite breakfast places in Taipei. Plus, some of the good food in Ximending can be found in this area too!
Kimpton Da’an Review: King Essential Room
The Kimpton King Essential Room has a comfortable king bed, sitting area, open closet and a spacious bathroom. The room is modern and well-designed with the most luxurious materials and finishes. As an ex-interior designer, I truly appreciate all the luxurious finishes and design details.
There are several types of guestrooms at Kimpton. But no matter which type of room you select on Agoda, each guestroom has a comfortable bed, sitting area, a 50″ LED flat-screen TV, fridge, espresso pod machine, complimentary coffee and tea.

Other features in the guestroom
The King Essential Room is designed well. Every corner of the room is fully utilized and maximized.
Plus, I really like how the room has a yoga mat and handheld massager. There is enough space in the room for an impromptu yoga workout session.

The King Essential Room has a sitting area where you can enjoy a meal or do some work. The little sofa is comfortable and welcoming. The hotel even gave me a fruit basket during my stay.

Private ensuite bathroom
Each guestroom has a modern private ensuite bathroom including a large shower stall, a TOTO toilet in a separate area, and a bathroom vanity. All the finishes are white in colour. The bathroom is spacious and very clean.

The Lobby at Kimpton Hotel
The lobby has several different areas.
There are a few cozy chairs near the reception area where you can enjoy a coffee while you check in.
Next to the reception, there is a bar cart where the hotel hosts the Social Wine Hour each day where the hotel serves complimentary wine or cocktail and finger foods.
At the far end of the lobby, there is a long communal desk for anyone who wants to plug in and do some work.

Social Wine Hour at Kimpton Hotel Lobby
Like I mentioned already, there is a bar cart between the reception and the long communal table in the lobby. Kimpton Hotel has a Social Wine Hour every day, and they serve complimentary drinks and snacks for all the guests of the hotel. It is a great way to unwind and meet other travellers.

Other features at Kimpton Hotel
As a guest at Kimpton Hotel, you can rent a vintage Go Chic Bikes and tour around the city for free. The retro bike has a basket in the front for all your belongings.
If you want to stay healthy and fit, there is a fitness centre opens 24 hours a day. Plus, there are biking and hiking programs organized by the hotel.
I don’t have any pets but if you are travelling with one, you can be sure your furry child is welcomed at Kimpton Da’an Hotel.
And if your reservation includes a complimentary breakfast, you will enjoy it at Le Tavernist, which is located on the top floor of the hotel. The modern British restaurant was given the Plate Michelin for 2020 and 2021. The recognition is given to a restaurant with high quality food and is working towards a specific award or star.

The staff at Kimpton Da’an Hotel
I thought the staff at Kimpton was welcoming and friendly. Everyone speaks perfect English so there isn’t any language barrier. The reception staff was helpful in explaining everything I need during my stay and also offered many food suggestions (of course, what else would I ask?)
