If you are thinking of going to Bali, Indonesia, you may be checking for accommodations in Kuta, Seminyak or Ubud. These are all the popular touristy areas that most first-timers will want to check out.

However, if you want to stay in an area with laidback vibes, fantastic beaches and gorgeous and cheap villas, then you have to stay in Canggu, Bali.

Where is Canggu, Bali?

Canggu is a small coastal town just north of Seminyak and south of Tanah Lot.

The town is popular with surfers because of the amazing beaches lining Canggu. And Canggu is popular amongst the expats and digital nomads communities because housing is quite affordable. You can find the cutest shops in Canggu and the most delicious and healthy food at the best cafes in Canggu.

It is not as mainstream as Kuta or Seminyak but more and more people and finding out about Canggu. Reasons why you should book Airbnb in Canggu

There are a few hotels in Canggu, and most of them are relatively new and have excellent amenities. Staying at one of the hotels isn’t expensive. On average, you can find a hotel room for about $60USD.

Staying in a hotel in Canggu is great. There is nothing wrong with that.

However, if you are going to spend the money anyway, why not choose Airbnb villas?

Here are some reasons why you should book Airbnb the next time you are in Canggu.

1. For the same price as booking a hotel, you will get a luxury room or private villa

When I think of a tropical paradise, I immediately think of Bali. And specifically, I think of Canggu. Canggu has all the best private and luxury villa that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. For a very reasonable price, you can stay in the most gorgeous villa.

Even though there are many hotels options in Canggu, for what you pay for a standard hotel room, you will have a chance to experience a luxury villa in Canggu, with the most beautiful swimming pools and special amenities. Live like a queen for a day or a few weeks. It is worth every penny!

2. Access to kitchen and other unique amenities

There are a ton of options when it comes to eating out in Canggu! Check out my post on all my favourite cafes in Canggu!

However, having access to a kitchen may be necessary for some of you. It is a nice option if you want to make breakfast or a simple meal. And if you stay in a hotel, cooking is not an option.

Also, some Airbnb accommodation may offer other unique amenities like a Crossfit gym. You can work out and eat all the delicious food at the same time!

3. Personal attention from the Airbnb host

Each Airbnb villa is different. But all the hosts will make sure you will enjoy your time while you are staying at their villa.

Some hosts will put together a local guide which includes information like restaurants and cafes near Airbnb, recommended laundry shop, coffee shop, grocery store, etc. And they will be sure to include all the phone numbers just in case there is an emergency.

Typically, each villa has a team of staff at the villa during the day to clean the rooms and maintain the pool and common areas. And they are reachable via Whatsapp (a popular way to communicate in Bali), at any time of the day.

4. Live like a local

The beauty of staying in Airbnb accommodation is to live like a local. You can “pretend” to live in Canggu for a while and see what life feels like. You have all the comforts of home including a bedroom, living area and kitchen while you are living in a neighbourhood that is not super touristy. There are local restaurants nearby where locals frequent and store selling produces which is generally cheaper than supermarkets.

5. A better option for long-term travelling

Airbnb is an excellent option if you are travelling long-term. Some Airbnb listings will offer a weekly or monthly discount. The idea is that if you stay longer, it will be cheaper.

From a budget point of view, staying in Airbnb is better for your wallet especially if you are travelling for a long time.

This is why I’m including my recommendations on my blog because they are that good! I want everyone to have the same experience!

Below suggestions are all opinions of my own and did not receive any compensation for any of the reviews. I only want to share what I love.

Vassani Stay

Location is everything! Vassani Stay is right above Gypsy Cafe on Jalan Batu Bolong. And it is 5 minutes away from Batu Bolong Beach, Old Man’s and all the best restaurants and cafes in Canggu.

There are a few types of apartments at Vassani Stay and I stayed in one of the three loft apartments.

The loft apartment can occupy up to four people. The unit is modern with terrazzo walls that mimic the look and feel of concrete. The entire space is designed with minimalistic aesthetics, but it feels very comfortable at the same time.

There is a shared kitchen that you can use while staying at Vassani Stay. There is also a common sitting area and a gorgeous swimming pool.

I love everything about Vassani Stay. The location is great, beautiful decor, reliable wifi, and a group of welcoming and helpful staff. Vassani Stay is a real gem in Canggu!

Echo Beach Apartment

The Echo Beach Apartment is a two-storey building with beautifully furnished apartments. Each unit is the same and there are only six units in total.

Once you enter the apartment, you will find a spacious living room, dining area and a full kitchen. Further into the apartment is the bedroom with a lovely ensuite bathroom. The entire apartment is somewhat minimalistic, similar to Scandinavian interiors. Every piece of furniture is simple in design but purposeful.

There is also a small balcony with two chairs and a table area at the entrance. And just beyond your balcony (if you are on the ground floor), is the shared swimming pool. Because there are only six units in the entire complex, the pool is not busy at all.

The villa is quietly tucked away from the main streets, so it is quiet and peaceful. But it is close to Echo Beach, which is just a few minutes away. I love how it is centrally located and yet very quiet.

The Echo Beach Apartment is one of the most luxurious villas I’ve ever stayed in Canggu.

Villa Ra

Further up Jalan Batu Bolong is Villa Ra. The villa has four bedrooms in the entire complex. The common area has a full kitchen, comfortable living room with a big screen tv, dining area for ten and a swimming pool. It even has a Crossfit gym! Perfect for those want to stay in shape while eating all the yummy food in Canggu.

Each room has either a super king bed or two super king single beds. And it has a duo workspace which is great for anyone who works remotely. The bathroom is spacious and designed well and clean.

They also put some thoughtful touches in your living quarters. Each room has a smart tv, a safe, a separate router and a mini-fridge. And if you forgot your universal adapter, each room has international power points and USB outlets.

Villa Ra is not just a regular Airbnb; they clean your room every day! The staff comes by your room daily to clean your room and make sure you have everything you need.

And most of all, the host is super friendly and easy to communicate with. She really made sure everything was great during my time at Villa Ra.

I really enjoyed my time at Villa Ra! I especially appreciate having a big workspace in my room because I like having a dedicated space to work while I am travelling.

Villa Absolute

Tucked away on Jalan Padang Linjong, Villa Absolute is a modern and well-designed private villa.

The villa has a monochromatic shared common area including a shared living room, dining room and a full kitchen. And there is a beautiful swimming pool in the centre of the villa.

The entire villa has 3 bedrooms. Each room is decorated with unique touches like high-quality bedsheets and essential oil diffusers.  And if you work remotely or want to stream movies online, each room has a router with a fibre optic wifi connection.

Communication with the host is super easy, and the staff is there to cater to all your needs. They clean your room, manage airport transfer, etc. And you can ask them to rent a scooter for you and arrange for a masseuse to come to the villa, etc.

I stayed in the Karma room which is the spacious bedroom on the ground floor next to the living area. The room can occupy up to two people and has a comfortable king-size bed and a modern ensuite bathroom. The room feels homey and comfortable.

And if you are not travelling solo and coming to Canggu as a group, you can rent out the entire private villa. It is such a great spot for big gatherings!

Deluxe Bedroom in Pererenan

The Deluxe Bedroom in Pererenan is part of a three-bedroom villa in which you can rent the individual room or the whole villa.

The room itself has a king-size bed and decorated in beautiful traditional teak wood furniture. And it has a generous closet and an ensuite bathroom. And the shared swimming pool and lounging area are just a few feet from the bedroom.

I spent an entire week in the villa and had a fantastic time. I met other travellers who stayed in the room next to mine and remain friends with the wonderful hosts. Truly a wonderful experience you cannot find if you book a hotel.

Even though the private is located just at the edge of Canggu, I feel I should include it in this list of the best Airbnb villas in Canggu. Because the villa is really great in so many ways and very affordable as well, if you enjoy staying in a quiet and comfortable villa, make sure to check out the listing on Airbnb.
