about me

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my website! My name is Queenie, and I’ve been a solo traveller for many years! I went on my first solo journey in my mid 20’s, and my life has not been the same.

The travel bug bite me right away! As soon as I went home, I wanted to go back out right away, to see more and do more.

A little more about me

I was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Toronto, Canada. I’ve been on a plane since I was two years old! I’ve been to at least 48 countries throughout my life. My family has always liked to travel, but I seriously got bitten by the travel bug when I went on my first solo trip. It was instant, and there was no going back! I love everything about travelling! From discovering new things, tasty food, the unknown of a new place, and all the adventure, a new environment has to offer. There isn’t a place that I don’t like.

I have many interests in life which meant I have a lot of dreams and aspirations! They all lead me to various career paths in my life. After high school, I earned an applied science degree, studied I.T., worked in the finance industry, and venturing into interior design in Asia. I have so many different interests in life that my personal and career paths branched out everywhere.

I wasn’t always a solo traveller

Travel has always been with me no matter what I did. I’ve always enjoyed family vacations and long weekends and trips with friends. When I was at a point in my life that I didn’t have anyone to travel with, but at the same time I didn’t want to wait around for someone to become ready. So I packed my luggage and went on a solo trip for three weeks in Europe. All the details of the journey are still so vivid in my mind because it has such an impact on me. I had the time of my life! I felt even happier because I travelled on my own! To me, it was quite an achievement!

In the past few years, many friends and colleagues asking me about travelling solo. They were very curious about why I decided to go solo. Many women asked me a lot of questions and the men did too! Not only is the idea of solo travelling wasn’t prevalent at the time when I started, or it just wasn’t a common thing where I grew up.

The idea of travelling solo came about organically where I embraced it completely, and it has made my life better. It is not just about the act of travelling, but it’s about the skills I develop as a solo traveller and as a woman. I feel more confident as a person, more determined to do anything in life, and more open to possibilities.
